Pastor's Corner – Sept 21st, 2022
As a Pastor, I get lots of challenging questions.
A couple of Sunday ago, one little girl who had just recently asked Jesus to come into her heart, came to me with a very confused look on her face. I asked her what was wrong, and she told me that she was just wondering how tall Jesus was.
I thought about it for a few minutes and I told her that He was a Jewish man about 33 years of age when He was crucified, and I estimated that most Jewish men were about 5’6” – 5’10’’ inches tall. She thought about it for a minute and she grew more perplexed. She finally asked me, “how tall do you think I am”? I told her that she was about 4’3”. So, she looked at me and asked, if He’s almost 6 feet tall and I’m barely 4 feet, how can He live in me? It seems like He ought to be popping out all over me. I laughed for a minute, but I collected myself as I realized that she wasn’t all wrong. If Jesus is living in her heart, He ought to be popping out through her conversations, her actions and even through her questions.
Every Wednesday night, we offer a Bible Study via Zoom. We have some great teaching but rarely do any of our adult students ask questions. I know our teachers do a great job opening up the scriptures, but I can’t begin to imagine that the teaching is so perfect that every student embraced every point in the teacher’s outline. I think we’re either too embarrassed to ask or we’re not curious enough to seek the answer to our burning question. At Faith Church, I want every member to be like that little girl who wondered if Jesus was too big to live inside of her. Unless we become like little children, we’ll never know our living Lord.
This Sunday, Steven Myers will be bringing The Word and we are always blessed when we get to hear from him, Tarus or Vaughn. They are three great men of God and I hope that you will pray for the anointing as the Gospel is presented both Wednesday and Sunday.
Blessings,
Pastor
