Pastor's Corner – February 8th, 2024
Last Sunday, we promoted our students who were 7th grade and higher from Children’s Church to “Big Church”. I know some of our students as well as their parents were a bit apprehensive about this change; however, I am convinced that we will all see the benefit of this transition in due time.
Students were welcomed by a contingent of cheerleaders led by Donedra Banks and a host of other faithful parents as they yelled the phrase, ‘LEVEL UP”.
All our new Junior high students were also adorned with stickers boasting the same phrase, “I leveled up Today”. This transition had such an impact on me, that I ditched my entire teaching series and over the next few weeks, we’ll be encouraging everyone to Level Up.
Level Up Your Faith! Level Up your Grace! Level Up your Love! Level Up your Destiny!
The remainder of this year, Faith Church will place intensified attention on children and youth education. They deserve it and we are committed to it. Getting them to “Big Church” was a first step. We made a decision that was necessary for the next steps in this process to be meaningful and successful. Going forward, we’ll be asking our students to become actively involved in the strategic guidance of Faith Church.
They will be represented on the administrative team of the Church and twice annually, beginning in May of this year, we will ask them to lead a church-wide discussion on the key initiatives of Faith. We’ll share more about this in coming weeks. Meanwhile, I look forward to seeing all our Junior High and older young people in the general audience this Sunday.
Here's what else you can expect next week:
Wednesday night Bible Study will make a brief return to the Church next week (February 14th) at 6:00 p.m. February 14th is not only Valentine’s Day, but also Ash Wednesday and for the first time in quite a while, we’ll dispense ashes in person, so please make plans to come. Wednesday Night Live has built an audience outside of Birmingham through Zoom. We will continue to stream Bible study via Zoom for those who are unable to join us in person. Thanks in advance for those volunteers who are making February 14th possible.
Finally, we welcome our three new members, Votrice Stanberry, her son Trevor and Deborah Tanner. It was very exciting to have them join us last Sunday.
Blessings,
Pastor
