Pastor's Corner – October 10th, 2023
I’m not a scholar of end-time prophecy; however, we should probably pay attention to the war between Israel and Hamas, a terrorist organization based in the Palestinian territory of Gaza. Hamas is funded by Iran which is situated due east of Israel. And Iran has for a long time stated that their objective is to destroy Israel. In the past they have threatened to, “wipe Israel off the face of the Earth.
It’s interesting how it always comes back to Israel and Jerusalem.
The Bible predicted, thousands of years ago, that the end time events would revolve around Jerusalem. Now I’m not suggesting that this war unfolding in the Middle East is the beginning of the Battle of Armageddon, but I’m saying we should examine the headlines and square them against the scripture lines of the Book of Revelations. As you read the headlines, pay attention to the actions of Russia and Iran (formerly Persia).
What should Christians be doing in light of all this? Two things.
Jesus said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28 NKJV).
That’s what we need to be doing, looking for the soon return of Jesus Christ.
But we also need to pray. The Bible tells us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). We want to pray that they arrive at some kind of peace. We want to pray that this horrific terrorism stops, and that they’re able to get their hostages back. And we want to pray that God places His hand of protection on the nation of Israel during this unprecedented war.
This is not your Pastor’s normal content for this weekly note; however, this is my way of saying that we need to put first things first. We need to establish our personal priorities in such a way that they line up with Kingdom Priorities.
Peace,
Pastor
