Pastor's Corner – July 19th, 2022
Last weekend, our message title was “What a Fellowship”.
In the message we introduced a Greek word, Koinonia, and an English phrase, One Another. Both “koinonia” and “one another” refer to Christian fellowship.
Throughout the Bible, we are commanded to love one another, encourage one another, forgive one another, serve one another, be kind to one another and bear one another’s burdens. Now, the interesting thing about these 100 “one another” commands is that scripture confines our fellowship to the Christian family – the Church. Ironically, we spend more time today fellowshipping with the world than we spend fellowshipping with the Body of Christ. Ask any sports fan intimate questions about their favorite athlete and I promise you, they know by heart more information about Steph Curry than they will ever know regarding a church member who is supposed to be their brother or sister.
The point I am trying to make is that we need to be more intentional about getting to know one another so that we can bless one another. Never pass up the opportunity to visit the sick, to join in the loss of a grieving family or to miss a wedding celebration.
I’ll close with this. All of us will be in lack one day. We will all experience seasons of sickness, and we will all experience grief. Begin now to fellowship with members of your church so that when you need an everlasting arm on which to lean, it will be there.
By the way, don’t miss a power-filled message delivered by Steven Myers this weekend. Steven will be teaching on Praise and Worship. Don’t miss it!
Blessings,
Pastor
